Are you Coming out to Play

What do you call it when it rains for 40 days and 40 nights – answer British Summer Time !

But let’s not dwell on the weather, in fact the least said the better. Anyway we hope that you have all had a busy and productive Summer and if you did manage to get any time away it was relaxing.

This month we thought we’d give you a round up of some of the projects we have been working on, some very interesting and diverse work including the launch of a new state of the art bingo club, re-branding a lovely local charity and much more besides.

And just for fun we show you the winning photographs from our Summer The Good, the Bad and the Ugly competition – some of the best and the worst examples of marketing from around the globe that you have kindly sent in. Those featured will get a not so seasonal bottle of Pimm’s in the post !

We hope that you find these features interesting and if you want to have a chat about how we can help you to successfully market your business then just give us a call.

Yours Fiona, Janice and Fiona

Border Bingo – Are you coming out to play ?

Yes that was the invitation from Border Bingo Clubs who have recently opened their brand new state of the art bingo club in Pavilion Bingo ClubGalashiels.

Bright Light Marketing and design partners Whitenoise Creative are very proud to have been involved in helping this independent locally owned company to open a club that ranks amongst the best in the country and which takes the bingo playing experience to a whole new level here in the Borders.

This large project has involved a complete refurbishment of the Pavilion Club and as well as having the very latest in modern technology also features fabulous new interior design which is both contemporary and glamorous.

Bingo is enjoying a revival at the moment with more and more younger players discovering what a fun filled and sociable activity it is. The game has come a long way over the years and Border Bingo Clubs have invested heavily in new technology, games and big prize money to make it as exciting as possible for their players.

During the refurbishment the Pavilion has been completely rebranded using the brand character Buzby the parrot and his striking colour palette. This has meant some really exciting brand applications from the high tech Callers Station to fabulous graphics, interior design, signage and staff uniform right down to goody bags and dabbers for Members.

And to get the message out in the marketplace we have carried out an extensive marketing campaign including a Press and PR campaign which resulted in local MSP Christine Grahame launching the club and calling some numbers ! advertorial features in all of the local press, radio advertising, a door drop campaign, direct mail activity, display advertising, social media and members newsletter Buzby’s News. Buzbys Lounge, ideal for groups

This concerted marketing activity combined with superb design, interiors and graphics from White Noise have resulted in a fabulous new club that customers absolutely love. Since opening the club has generated over 600 brand new members in as many weeks and this continues to climb every day.

As the strapline says “ Are you coming out to Play” – and the answer very definitely is a resounding yes !

With great new promotions planned such as Bingo for Beginners nights, a Super Group campaign aimed specifically at groups of friends and workmates, the future looks very bright indeed for Border Bingo Clubs.

The Hive creates a Buzz

Gala Day Services were an established local charity in the Borders delivering a professional and flexible respite service for adults with learning difficulties from across the area.

The same small dedicated team had been delivering this specialist service for over 20 years however huge changes to how the sector is funded meant that the charity had to completely review how it packaged and promoted its services to clients.  As a result they approached Bright Light Marketing to help them re-brand the company and come up with a memorable new trading name which conveys exactly what they stand for and which would also raise its profile in the local community.

The Hive brand was born and this has provided a strong platform for the charity and its clients to build on in the future.
As a company who value their clients and offer a truly personal level of service that is tailored round the needs of the individual it was vital that this was then communicated properly. A comprehensive leaflet was produced and distributed promoting the unique services on offer and clients, their families and partner agencies all attended a very successful launch event which generated a lot of interest in the charity. The company also invested in new signage, staff uniform and have plans to develop and improve their website too.

The Hive have now attracted new clients and said that this new way of working has meant that clients have a bigger say in the activity sessions on offer and that they feel more involved than ever before.

Manager Carolyn Mackenzie said "We went from a position of not having to market ourselves, to suddenly having to raise our profile and look at new ways of delivering our service. Bright Light Marketing helped us to refocus our ideas, and identify a brand that captured our values to a tee.  They encouraged us to come up with a new trading name, which has helped us immensely to get our message out in the community. I was impressed how easily they captured our thoughts and ideas and helped us to identify a new brand that we are really proud to be a part of. As a team we worked well together - their understanding of where we wanted to be fully met our expectations. We want to thank them because without their input I don't know where we would be today."
