SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN

Bright Light Marketing have a track record in writing Feasibility Studies and Marketing Plans that have been used as a strong business case for grant funding or showing Council Planners that there is a strong business case for your product and that it fits in with the goals of the local economy. We have also produced a range of Marketing Plans across many sectors that have enabled businesses to reach new markets and achieve their goals or simply increase their bottom line.

A plan whether it is a Business Plan, a Feasibility Study or a Marketing Plan should give you a definite route to follow so that you can identify and achieve your goals.  This may be to successfully get planning permission from your local authority for a new development or to extend your existing business, it may be to access grant or bank funding or it may be to increase profit in your business or a mixture of these goals. There are many reasons to have a plan but in this edition we thought we would look at three reasons why a plan could be right for your business.

1. You want to expand or start a new business
Do you have an idea for a new product or service that you would like to offer? Or do you have a great business idea and now is perhaps the time to pursue it?

A Feasibility Study and Marketing Plan is ideal in this situation because it would look at the product and/or service you want to market and see firstly whether there is a business case for it with detailed background research and current and likely future trends for that product or service. It would identify who the potential customers would be and how you could communicate with them. Who your main competitors are and what you can learn from them but also what you can do better as well learning from best practice across the UK and beyond.

Bright Light Marketing have carried out Feasibility Studies and Marketing Plans for a wide range of clients. These plans have allowed businesses to successfully apply for grant and/or bank funding and also to greatly assist their case when seeking Planning Permission as local authorities increasingly want to know that there is a sound business case for the product that fits in with local strategies and will benefit and enhance the local economy. It is worth investing in a plan rather than go through planning only to find you have to start again and a Feasibility Study would have made all the difference to your initial application.

2. Why aren’t you getting more customers?

A Marketing Plan is like a spring clean. It is a chance to look at your business with critical eyes as Rabbie Burns says to see yourself as others see us. It allows you to look at your current marketing communications, your actual product or service and also the customer service offering and see what works, what doesn’t and what you should be doing that you are not doing and give you a new route for the future.

When Bright Light Marketing develop a Marketing Plan we work very closely with the client as you know your business inside out and if you are going to move it forward you need to understand why we have come to the conclusions that we have. We therefore will hold a Marketing Workshop with you which will take you through a series of exercises that will enable us to then carry out a marketing audit of your business. We will then carry out our own research before writing a plan that shows you how you get more customers, with clear recommendations for the future and how you can go about getting these customers.

3. Marketing needs a Map not a Sat Nav!

A Sat Nav can be useful when trying to go to a new location but sometimes they don’t work and lead you in the wrong direction or take you on a longer route which is why maps are still relevant.

Wouldn’t it be great if like a good map you knew the way ahead? But even better that you have a communication plan for the next 12 months which will not only tell you what communication tools to use. What customers you are targeting and why and how to evaluate it to see that it is actually working for you. This is what a good Marketing Plan will do for you and should be something that you refer to all the time not something that sits forlorn on a shelf. It should be the map that guides you on a daily basis and takes you and your business to where you want to be.

If you would like to discuss how a plan could work for you as a valued daily tool showcasing the way forward Bright Light Marketing would be happy to discuss it with you. Please call Fiona on 01750 505053 or by email on fiona.drane@brightlightmarketing.co.uk
